MISSION
The first responsibility of the CHAMPS program created by Randy Sprick's Safe and Civil Schools is to help adults create environments for children that are emotionally and physically safe and that foster independence, integrity, confidence, self-control, kindness, literacy, and responsibility in those children.
My CHAMPS Activity MatrixThe matrix is a list of the different activities and expectations in my K - 6 Physical Education classes. These expectations will be presented to the students early in the school year and practiced throughout the year. Following these procedures in class is essential as it makes the classroom safer and saves time in the long run. Students that have difficulty following these guidelines and expectations will have consequences. Below the consequences are listed in order. Less severe or occasional lapses in following proper procedures will be dealt with differently than repeated violations of distracting, disrespectful or unsafe behaviors.
#1 Verbal warning and a reminder of the rules #2 Reminder of the rules and a "time out" from the activity. The student may be asked to fill out an "on the bench in PE" worksheet which the student will bring home. #3 Reminder of the rules and a "time out" for the remainder of the class period. The student will fill out an "on the bench in PE" worksheet which the student will bring home. #4 If behaviors continue to be an issue other solutions may be necessary such as: meeting with the student and classroom teacher and/or parents, Principal, Behavior specialist, or Counselor. In rare instances a behavior plan may be necessary. |
